The Tools for Success guides and support services have been developed by Cass Centre for Charity Effectiveness (Cass CCE) to help small voluntary and community organisations ensure that the basics contributing to long-term sustainability are in place, enabling them to become organisations in which others want to invest.

Good Governance Guide

The purpose of this guide is to help you build an effective and responsible governance structure. It explores five key areas: reviewing strategy and finance; reviewing Board composition; boundaries and delegation; decision-making and accountability; risk management. In each area, we link the responsibilities of your Board with key activities and signpost websites where further information, support and advice can be obtained. We use the terms Board and trustees throughout the guide but recognise that there is a variety of titles used in the sector including management committee, governors, directors and the Executive.
