Countdown to BM10K: Meet Sophie
We’re counting down to the 2017 Brighton Marathon and BM10K, which will be upon us in less than 2 weeks!
This is the first year that Brighton Oasis Project will have runners taking part in the marathon or the 10K on our behalf and we’re incredibly grateful for their support. To help our runners reach their fundraising targets, we’ll be introducing each of them in the lead up to the race. Last week we met Nick and this week, it’s Sophie’s turn!
Sophie, tell us: are you a seasoned runner or new to the sport?
I run intermittently throughout the year, although each time i commence training it feels as though I am a newbie!
Have you ever run for a charity before?
I have! I ran 5k for The Brain Tumour Charity previously.
And why is it you have chosen to run for BOP this time?
I chose to raise money for BOP because of the important service it provides to my local community.
How is your training going for the 10K? Have you hit any challenges along the way?
Training got off to a good start with frequent circuits, however I am overcoming consistency challenges! I am enjoying picking up the pace again now, as the race draws nearer.
And how are you feeling about the race?
I feel a tiny bit nervous, but am looking forward to completing the challenge, and having raised money for BOP. Not long to go now!
We wish Sophie all the very best of luck for Sunday 9th April. We’ll be cheering her and our other runners along from St James Street, where we’ll also be running a street collection. Please come along and say hello – we’d love to see you!
