We have some rather amazing supporters who have decided to run the BM10K for us on 9th April. We’ve been catching up with one of our runners, Nick, to see how he’s getting on in the lead up to the race!
Nick, are you a seasoned runner or a newbie?
I have done regular runs in the last 4/5 years. Before that, only the odd charity event! Previously, I’ve run for St Wilfrids Hospice and Alzheimers Society – in recognition of their helping friends and relatives.
And why is it you have chosen to run for BOP this time?
Helping people with problems, whether health-related or to do with personal circumstances, seems like a good cause. BOP fulfills these criteria.
How is your training going for the race?
I’m continuing to do a 5K weekly, but perhaps more regularly than before, and I’ve run on the hills in the recent fine weather. Getting up to the distances involved has been a problem – even some of the 5K runs seem about twice as far as my legs want to go!
So how are you feeling about the race?
Nervous and excited! I’m certainly looking forward to it and being part of a team; my previous sponsored runs have been off my own initiative.
